“Babachir was one of the first to urge Tinubu to run for President” – Babajide Otitoju
The Nigerian journalist, Babajide Otitoju, has said that some of Bola Tinubu’s closest friends have turned against him over his decision to field a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket, picking a Muslim (Kashim Shettima) as his running mate. Babajide spoke concerning such friends on TVC News while discussing Tinubu’s relationship with Babachir Lawal.
Addressing the topic, Babajide said, “We live in dangerous and absurd times.” There are people who will make noise about this for their political gains. As we have seen, some of those who were close to the presidential candidate of the APC, Bola Tinubu, have turned against him just because of his decision. People like Babachir Lawal and Faleke were among the first people to encourage Bola Tinubu to run for president.
He continued, “According to Babachir, their rift is because Tinubu did not choose a Christian. I long for the day when we simply focus on who can get the job done. Our economy is in crisis today, and we can only get out of that crisis by voting for the right person. Nigerians should de-emphasize religion and ethnicity in the future by focusing on competence.
