Bandits confront police team escorting travelers with Armoured Personnel Carrier in Zamfara, kill one officer
Bandits have continued to grow bold in their operations in Zamfara State. A gang of bandits was gathered to have confronted a team of police personnel providing protection for travelers with Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) along Dansadau raid to Gusau, the state capital. The police officers were said to be escorting the travellers with their APC when they were confronted by bandits who killed one police officer during the exchange of gunfire.
An eye witness was gathered to have narrated that the lorry conveying food commodities developed fault on the way. Police personnel escorting the travellers had to surround the environment to provide protection for the driver to repair the vehicle and continue the journey. The bandits were said to have suddenly stormed the scene and started shooting at the police officers at the point of temporary stoppage along Gusau- Dansadau road.
The Armoured Personnel Carrier with which the police were escorting travellers to Gusau was stationed at the location of the attack.
Though one police officer was said to be killed, the bandits did not, however, escape with the APC, while the police eventually subdued them. The travellers were thrown into panic when the bandits struck. No traveller was killed in the fireworks.
