President Muhammadu Buhari has denied appointing any presidential contender.

On Monday, the president reportedly disclosed this information during a meeting with northern governors.

Simon Lalong of Plateau State stated on behalf of the governors that the president emphasized that he does not have a consensus candidate at this time.

This comes despite allegations that Ahmed Lawan, president of the Senate, has been named the APC’s consensus candidate.

“Within the past several days, we met, made a decision, and issued an alert.” While we were en route to advising the president, a portion of our conversation became public.

Being a democrat, Mr. President insisted on listening to us. Therefore, he provided us with the chance today. Today’s gathering is to reaffirm our viewpoint. ”

We apologized to him for the collective nature of our statement.

Mr. President was pleased with our choice. Mr. President thinks that every candidate must emerge through a democratic and transparent process.

Mr. President emphasized that there is no anointed candidate at this time and ordered the Progressive Governors Forum to meet with the National Working Committee of the party to reach an agreement.

The Northern All Progressives Congress Governors will meet with the President at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday, according to the PUNCH. the governors of the North requested that the ruling party zone their presidential candidate to the south.

They also requested that candidates from the northern region withdraw from the campaign.

“After careful study, we wish to announce our firm view that after eight years in the office of President Muhammadu Buhari, the APC presidential candidate for the 2023 elections should be one of our numerous members from the southern states of Nigeria.”

“It is a matter of honor for the APC, a responsibility that is unaffected by the decisions of another political party.”
