Carragher hails Chelsea’s new signing
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has expressed regret that Liverpool did not sign Pedro Neto before Chelsea secured the Portuguese international for £54 million earlier this month.
Carragher praised Neto’s abilities, calling him a “special talent” and one of the Premier League’s top players when fit.
Neto made a substitute appearance during Chelsea’s 2-0 loss to Manchester City over the weekend, and fans are eager to see him start in their upcoming Conference League match against Serviette.
Despite concerns about his injury history, Neto has only missed seven games in five seasons in England, a stark contrast to Reece James, who has been sidelined 18 times in the same period.
However, when Neto is injured, it often sidelines him for significant periods, with hamstring, knee, and ankle issues being the main culprits during his time at Wolves.

With Neto’s arrival and the expected signing of Joao Felix, Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca will have a wealth of options for wide positions.
Cole Palmer and Christopher Nkunku started against City, while Noni Madueke and Mykahilo Mudryk were on the bench.
Raheem Sterling was notably absent from the matchday squad, prompting a statement from the player before the game.
With such depth in the squad, it is likely that Chelsea will see several departures before the transfer window closes on August 30th.
