Catholic Church decries insecurity in Taraba
The Catholic Diocese of Jalingo on Friday decried high-level insecurity in Taraba State in recent times and called on the government to intensify efforts towards stopping the menace.
This is contained in a communique issued at the end of the 19th General Assembly of the Diocese held at St. Charles Borromeo Pastoral Centre, Jalingo, the state capital.
The Communique which was signed by the Bishop of the Diocese, Most Rev. Charles Hammawa, and Chancellor Very Rev.Fr. Anthony Nzinang expressed regret over the unfortunate incident of communal and religious clashes in the state, resulting in the death of many and the destruction of lives and property.

“We condemn the current incidences of kidnapping and robberies in the state as well as communal and religious clashes.
“We are worried over these incidences and we call on the government to intensify efforts towards stopping all these crises and work out modalities for the quick return of the displaced persons to their homes.
“These people who are displaced need help and the government should provide relief materials to them and expedite action on their return to their homes as the new farming season begins.”
