Chelsea push forward in pursuit of Jorrel Hato, Xavi Simons, João Félix
Chelsea are making significant moves behind the scenes as they continue active negotiations to secure the signings of Ajax defender Jorrel Hato and RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Xavi Simons, with both players reportedly enthusiastic about a move to Stamford Bridge.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Jorrel Hato has already reached an agreement on personal terms with Chelsea, while discussions between the London club and Ajax regarding a transfer fee are ongoing.
The 18-year-old Dutch centre-back, widely regarded as one of Europe’s most promising young defenders, has been a long-term target for Chelsea as they look to reinforce their defensive options for the future.
Meanwhile, talks with RB Leipzig over the potential acquisition of Xavi Simons are said to be at an advanced stage.
The Dutch international, who impressed on loan at Paris Saint-Germain last season before returning to Leipzig, is reportedly eager to join Chelsea, with negotiations over the financial terms of the deal still in progress.
In a parallel development, Chelsea are also in negotiations with Portuguese giants Benfica over a possible permanent deal for Portuguese forward João Félix.
The player, who previously had a loan stint at Chelsea from Atlético Madrid, is reportedly open to returning to Stamford Bridge, with his agent Jorge Mendes facilitating discussions between the two clubs.
Romano reports that Benfica are open to negotiating a permanent transfer, in line with Chelsea’s terms, and the ongoing dialogue is said to be progressing positively. Mendes, known for his strong ties to both clubs, is expected to play a pivotal role in finalising the agreement.

With Chelsea actively reshaping their squad under manager Enzo Maresca, the club’s transfer strategy appears to be focused on blending top-tier young talent with experienced attacking reinforcements as they prepare for a competitive 2025/26 campaign.
Meanwhile, over in Spain, Barcelona have officially concluded their summer transfer business. Club president Joan Laporta confirmed in an interview with Mundo Deportivo that the Catalan giants do not plan to make any additional signings during the current window.
“In principle, there will be no more new signings this summer,” Laporta stated. “We have a good squad, and the coach wants to strengthen the first team with players from the reserves… so we don’t expect new deals at the moment.”
As the transfer window continues to heat up across Europe, Chelsea remain one of the most active clubs, determined to secure key targets and bolster their squad ahead of the new season.
