Community leaders endorse Prince Ilo for Ikeja LG chairmanship

Community Leaders in Ikeja have endorsed the chairmanship bid of Prince Adeyinka Ilo for the July 12 Local Government election.

The Regent of Ikeja, Prince Adekunle Apena, at the official declaration of the aspirant for Ikeja Local Government chairmanship on Tuesday, stated that community leaders  had paid the All Progressives Congress(APC) nomination and administrative fees of N5.5 million for the aspirant to support his bid.

He described Ilo as “a son of the soil” and urged party leaders and residents to support the aspirant.

“We, the community leaders in Ikeja, with other stakeholders, have resolved to support our own son , Prince Adeyinka Ilo ,to succeed the present chairman, Mojeed Balogun, who is also a son of the soil in Ikeja.

“We are appealing to the party leaders and chieftains to consider our interests  and anoint our candidate for the local government election.

“We believe in Ilo and that  explains why  the community contributed money to purchase the nomination form to support his aspiration,”he said.

Also speaking, Chief Lateef Oluwaseyi, the Oluwo General of Ikeja , appealed to party leaders  to support Ilo to emerge as flag bearer of the party for the election.

“He is tested and trusted;  we know him and know his root.It will be easy for us to work with him for the development of Ikeja.

“We urge party stakeholders to support our aspirant,” he said.

Mrs. Munirat Ibraheem, the Akeweje of Ikeja, in her remarks, also appealed to the party to give the necessary support to Ilo.

According to her, the aspirant will not disappoint if he is elected to lead the council.

Alhaji Olusola Coker, a community Leader said that with Ilo as the candidate of APC, it would be easy for the party win in the election.

He described the aspirant as a good hand, calling on the party and residents to support his bid.

Coker said if elected, Ilo would build on the achievements of  his predecessor for the development of Ikeja.

Peter Izuchukwu,  who represented  the Igbo community in Ikeja, said that his group also supported the aspirant’s ambition to  become the council chairman.

“We are in full support of his ambition, we know him and trust him that he will continue the good work of his predecessor,” he said.

Speaking, Ilo thanked the community leaders, chiefs and other groups for the trust and confidence reposed in him.

He assured them that he would not fail them if given the mandate to serve.

“I assure you that I will not let you down. I am passionate about the development of Ikeja and I promise not to fail, if elected.

“I urge you all to support our party to ensure total victory during the election in July,” he said.
