Court orders EFCC to detain luxury real estate developer Sujimoto
A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to detain prominent luxury real estate developer, Sijibomi Ogundele, popularly known as **Sujimoto**, over allegations of financial impropriety.
The ruling, delivered on Friday, followed an ex parte application by the EFCC seeking the court’s authorization to keep the property mogul in custody pending the conclusion of investigations into alleged fraud-related activities.
According to court documents, the EFCC is probing multiple complaints against Sujimoto, ranging from suspected diversion of client funds to alleged breach of contract in high-value real estate transactions. The anti-graft agency told the court that his detention was necessary to prevent interference with witnesses and evidence.
Justice \[Insert Judge’s Name] granted the order, directing the EFCC to hold Sujimoto in custody while investigations continue. The court also mandated the agency to update it on the progress of the probe within a stipulated period.
Sujimoto, who built his reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading luxury property developers, has consistently maintained his innocence. In a statement issued by his legal team, he described the allegations as “malicious, unfounded, and aimed at tarnishing a brand built on integrity and hard work.”
The case has generated significant public attention, given Sujimoto’s high-profile status in Nigeria’s real estate sector and his extensive clientele among the country’s elite.
The EFCC has yet to confirm when formal charges will be filed.
