CP explains why Police continue to seal Plateau House of Assembly
The Commissioner of Police in Plateau State, CP Bartholomey Onyeka, at a press conference at the Headquarters of the State Police Command in Jos, clarified that the police have continued to seal the Plateau State House of Assembly because of the threats to lives and property, revealed by intelligence, following the leadership crisis in the state legislature.
The CP had assured adequate protection of the Assembly premises until normalcy returns to the legislature.
There has been controversy over the reinstatement of impeached Speaker of the House by the court. The speaker was impeached by nine members of the House at plenary.
The judgement was appealed as House members insisted in the removal of the speaker.
The police maintained that the legislature was sealed to forestall breakdown of law and order. Thus, the lawmakers have continued to be denied access to the House for official business.
