Delta Police Command apprehends suspects involved in murderer, kidnapping, robbery, illegal firearms possession
The Delta State Police Command at the Force Headquarters in Asaba, paraded 22 suspects who were arrested for various crimes including murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, and possession of illegal firearms.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, in a statement, indicated that the arrested 22 suspects include a 12-man gang which members were identified as Chiedu Ewuzie, Bright Ushiagwu and Nnamdi Okocha, among others. They were said to have murdered one Ifeanyi Umeadi at Ogbeofu quarters in Ogwashi-Uku, Aniocha-South Local Government Area.
The PPRO stated that nine of the 12-man gang have been charged to court, while three murder suspects are still undergoing thorough investigation.
The Commissioner of Police in Delta State, Ari Mohammed, emphasised that the Special Anti-Cult Crack Unit of the Command, raided Ogorode, a black spot in Sapele Local Government Area, in separate operations, and arrested five kidnappers and robbery suspects following successful intelligence gathering.
It was indicated that the exhibits recovered from the suspects include one AK-47 rifle, a locally fabricated AK-47 rifle, two Pump-Action guns, two locally made single barrel guns, 47 rounds of 7.62 millimetres live ammunition, and some quantities of hard drugs suspected to be Indian Hemp.
The CP appealed to law-abiding residents of Delta State to maintain good relationship with the State Police Command for effective intelligence gathering and promotion of peaceful coexistence.
