The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ondo State Sector Command, says it has deployed 17 patrol vehicles and two tow vehicles for ease of movement during the Easter celebration in the state.
FRSC State Sector Commander, Dr, Samuel Ibitoye, in a media interaction on Thursday in Akure, said that the command also deployed five ambulances for rescue operations, adding that about 700 officers and men, 200 special marshals would be deployed as well to caution excessive speed on the road.
The commander explained further that mobile courts would also be organised for instant judgement of any driver caught violating road traffic rules.
“As people are celebrating Easter, we know that they will be moving from one place to another to celebrate with their friends, and families.
“We are not going to take that for granted due to heavy vehicular movement, that’s why we are always prepared to ensure that the road is safe from crashes.
“So, in Ondo State, we are going to deploy 17 patrol vehicles, two tow trucks, and 5 ambulances for rescue operations.
“Our personnel will also be on the roads to respond to any situation, and to caution traffic road users on reducing their excesses on the roads.
“About 700 officers and men, and about 200 special marshals will be on the road throughout the festive period,” Ibitoye said.
He, therefore, called on drivers to always be patient whenever they were on the wheel, and to shun anything that could cause crashes on the roads.
“I am pleading with our drivers not to claim any right, rather, they should go into defensive driving techniques.
“This will assist in preventing crashes for safer roads in Ondo State, and Nigeria at large,” he said.
