Edo Assembly resumes, receives list of commissioners-nominees
The Edo State House of Assembly resumed plenary on Thursday, receiving the list of nominated commissioners from Governor Godwin Obaseki. The Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Osarodion Ogie, on behalf of Governor Godwin Obaseki, transmitted the list of 11 commissioner-nominees to the state Assembly for screening and confirmation before the governor would proceed with their appointments and assignment of portfolios.
The Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun, noted that the list was long overdue. The Speaker, therefore, ordered that the curriculum vitae of the commissioner-nominees be sent to the Chairman of the House Committee on Rules and Business, Government House, for consideration, adding that the committee chairman would be assisted by the Chief Whip, Hon. Emma Okoduwa, representing Esan North East II; and Hon. Yekini Idaiye, representing Akoko Edo I constituency.
The Speaker directed the committee to give the list of nominated commissioners speedy consideration.
