The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has officially taken possession of a 753-unit housing estate in Abuja, recovered from former Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele.
The estate was handed over by the Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Olanipekun Olukoyede, to the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc Ahmed Dangiwa, on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Mabushi. This was revealed in a press release signed by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Salisu Badamasi Haiba on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.
Minister Dangiwa commended the EFCC for its sustained anti-corruption efforts and noted the importance of putting recovered assets to productive use. “This marks a significant milestone in ensuring that recovered assets directly benefit Nigerians,” he stated.
He added that a joint inspection will be conducted with the EFCC to assess the estate’s condition. Structural and integrity tests will follow, alongside a technical evaluation to determine the cost of completing essential infrastructure—fencing, roads, drainage, a police post, shopping areas, and recreational facilities.

Dangiwa explained that the estate will be offered for public sale and special government needs, with transparent processes through national advertisements and the Renewed Hope Portal.
“We are committed to making this a model of accountability and public benefit,” he said. EFCC Chairman Olukoyede described the handover as a demonstration of the ongoing success of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He emphasized that the estate, located on 150,462.86 square meters at Plot 109, Cadastral Zone C09, Lokogoma District, was forfeited after investigations proved it could not have been legitimately acquired. “We will not allow looted assets to be looted again,” he stated, affirming the EFCC will monitor the project and report progress to the President.
