Esanland honours Ambrose Alli, Anenih, other great leaders
Leaders of Esanland, Central Senatorial District, Edo State, at the Esan Mega Summit organised by Esan Descendants Assembly (EDA), remembered great leaders of yester years from different communities in Esan nation. Several sons and daughters of Esanland were given posthumous honours in commemoration of their leadership roles in the country, the state, and the growth and development of Esanland.
The recipients of the posthumous awards include late Chief Paul Engo Okojie, Prof Ambrose Alli, former Governor of Bendel State; and Chief Tony Anenih, Chief Tony Enahoro, Sir Christopher Abebe, Admiral Augustus Aikhomu and Chief Francis Ijewere.
The organizers explained that Esan indigenes at home and in the Diaspora selected the recipients on merit, noting that the illustrious sons and daughters from Esanland deserve to be celebrated for their remarkable roles in the growth and development of Esanland while they were alive.
Late High Chief Paul Okojie was celebrated for contributions to sports development in Nigeria.
Several others were celebrated for their political activities, Chief Tony Anenih for instance, and for lifting many sons and daughters of Esanland to higher places in the country.
Eminent personalities from Esanland in attendance at the award ceremony include Arch. Mike Onolememen, a former Minister of Works and Housing; AVM Okpere rtd, Professor Francis Inegbeniki, Eugene Anthony Enahoro, Hon. Stella Alli, the Ojuromi of Uromi Kingdom, the Onojie of Ujiogba, and the Onojie of Urohi, among others.
