Eschew social vices, be good ambassadors of Nigeria – Lagos Speaker counsels children
The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has urged every Nigerian child to shun all forms of social vices,which can debar their progress in life.
Obasa also charge them to be good ambassadors of not only their families and communities but also the country at large.
The Lagos Assembly Speaker’s message which was communicated via his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Musbau Rasak in commemoration of this year’s Children Day celebration, highlights the importance of the childhood stage of live.
Rt. Hon. Obasa assured every Nigerian child that the All Progressives Congress (APC) at all levels will continue to protect their interest by putting in place programmes and policies that will enhance their welfare and improve their standard of living.
“I want to assure you that the APC government at all levels will continue to put in place policies and programmes that will enhance your welfare and improve your standard of living. We will continue to put in place measures that will enhance your progress in life.
“However, I want to advise you to shun violence. Avoid cultism, runaway from crimes. The only way you can make progress in life is by being good ambassadors of your country and you can only achieve this by exhibiting high moral values all the time,” Rt. Hon. Obasa said.
He stated further that there is also the need for parents to monitor the activities of their children with a view to nipping any desire to go into crime in the bud.
“It’s our duty as parents and guardians to monitor the activities of our children all the time. It’s imperative for us to know the friends they keep and hang out with and the groups they associate with.
“On behalf of my colleagues in the Lagos State House of Assembly, I wish every Nigerian child a happy Children’s Day celebration,” Obasa said.
