The federal government has denied dismissing Governor Babagana Zulum’s security concerns in Borno State.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Malam Rabiu Ibrahim, on Thursday in Abuja, refuted reports of his alleged dismissal of security concerns raised by the Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State.

Idris sad that at no time did he say people should ignore Zulum’s claim that ‘Boko Haram is taking over Borno.

He said that such perception or headline was not only sensational but a deliberate act of misinformation.

He added that such report was designed to stoke public misunderstanding and distraction from the serious work the Federal Government was doing to address security challenges in Borno and beyond.

The minister noted that while the government had made significant progress in restoring peace and security in many parts of the country, some areas continued to face security challenges.

He acknowledged the ongoing efforts by the military and other security forces as well as the sustained investments in security hardware and intelligence.

He said that the Present Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government was committed to eradicating terrorism and banditry across the country.

He, therefore, called on all stakeholders, including state governments, to continue partnering with the government with a view to bringing lasting peace to the affected communities.

“We urge media platforms to uphold the ethics of responsible journalism by avoiding sensationalism and publishing only verified and accurate information.
