FG Disburses N5.12bn pension arrears to 90,689 DBS pensioners
The Federal Government has disbursed N5.12 billion in pension arrears to 90,689 retirees under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS) managed by the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD).
PTAD’s Head of Corporate Communications, Olugbenga Ajayi, in a statement on Monday in Abuja, confirmed that the disbursement process had been completed.
According to Ajayi, the payments covered pensioners across the four major departments and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to prioritising their welfare.
The breakdown shows that pensioners under the Customs, Immigration, and Prisons Pension Department (CIPPD) received a total of N276.03 million for one month of arrears, benefiting 8,626 retirees. Those under the Police Pension Department (PPD) were paid N619.58 million for two months of arrears, covering 9,681 retirees.
For the Civil Service Pension Department (CSPD), N408.74 million was disbursed for one month of arrears, while pensioners in the Parastatals Pension Department (PAPD) received the largest share—N3.81 billion—covering two months of arrears.
Ajayi stressed that the payments reflect the Federal Government’s determination, under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, to ensure that all pensioners receive their entitlements promptly and without discrimination. NAN
