Foundation trains women on the production of reusable sanitary pads

Its Executive Director, Mrs. Amina Garuba,  on Monday in Bauchi said that the training was conducted in selected local government areas of Bauchi State.

She said the training, which also included cash flow management and trade financing was designed to help beneficiaries to develop economically and to grasp administrative and marketing strategies.

“The three-day training was conducted using a community and school approach to reach women of reproductive age.

“We trained them on the production of reusable sanitary pads and provided them with all materials for future production.

“The training focused on community and school-based approach where 283 adolescent girls and 300 women, some of them physically challenged persons, participated.

“The exercises took place between March and April at Itas Gadau, Ningi, Tafawa Balewa, Gamawa and Kirfi local government areas of Bauchi state,’’ she said.

Garuba said some of the beneficiaries had been making and selling reusable sanitary pads in their communities after the training.

She commended the United Nations Population Fund and the Government of Canada for supporting the exercise.
