Gov. Akeredolu signs Amotekun bill into law in Ondo
Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State on Wednesday signed the Ondo State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Act 2020 into law.
The signing of the bill which took place at the State Executive Chamber was observed by top government officials in the state.
It was gathered that Governor Akeredolu said that the outfit was strictly for the security of lives and properties of Ondo State, and would not be used for political purposes.
The governor maintained that the Amotekun was set up to collaborate with existing security efforts, not to compete with them.
Akeredolu insisted that that there could not be an end to the nature of security outfits to be provided for the people.
Similar is also going through legislation in Lagos, Osun, Ogun and Oyo states. Ekiti State has already completed the legislation processes.
