Gov. Ortom demands investigation into killing of Vanguard Reporter in Abuja
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State on Friday said he was thrown into consternation on the report of the Vanguard Reporter, Tordue Henry Salem, found dead At a hospital in Abuja after being declared missing penultimate week.
Ortom protested that the mysterious discovery of the corpse of the Reporter at a hospital in Abuja raises suspicion, which he said should be thoroughly investigated.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Nathaniel Ikyur, in a statement in Makurdi, indicated that the Governor was pained by the unfortunate incident of the sudden disappearance of the Vanguard Reporter later found dead by unidentified persons in Abuja.
Governor Ortom urged the Inspector General of Police, the Director-General of the Department of State Service (DSS) and heads of other security agencies “to do everything possible to unravel the mystery surrounding the gruesome murder of the Benue-born journalist.”
The Governor reassured the people of the “commitment of Benue State Government to the safety of all its citizens, both at home and in the diaspora, and will not rest on its oars until the perpetrators are punished.”
