According to Ali, the ranking was carried out by the Federal Ministry of Environment in collaboration with the Society for Planet and Prosperity, SPP, during a high-level event held in Abuja.
He said the ranking was based on five parameters, including climate change institutional arrangements and administrative structures.
Others were climate policy and action plan, climate budget and finance, implementation and monitoring, and online visibility concerning climate action.
He explained that following the assessment, “Yobe State ranked 12th position, reflecting its commitment to addressing climate change and promoting environmental sustainability.”
On his part, the Minister of Environment, Balarabe Abbas Lawan, who chaired the event noted that the ranking was the first ever rating of climate governance performance among states.
