Herdsmen attack spreads to Delta
Fresh attacks by Fulani herdsmen in Delta have left one dead and others injured in two separate incidents in Onicha Olona and Ovwor Olomu, Ughelli where a middle-aged woman was allegedly raped.
The Onicha-Olona occurred on Friday when the herdsmen shot the farmer dead for blocking their cattle from browsing his farm, which they later set ablaze, according to community members
The victim was from had been living with members of his family in the community because of his farming business was from Anambra.
The Ovwor-Olomu attack took place on Sunday, andvat least three persons were injured, while a woman was allegedly raped.
The victims attacked on their way to work in the early hours of Sunday were said to have sustained varying degrees of injury.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Andrew Aniamaka, confirmed the killing at Onicha-Olona, adding that the police had launched a manhunt for the suspects.
But he could not confirm the attack at Ovwor-Olomu.
Herdsmen attacks have been on the rise since the Benue killing where about 80 people died weeks ago.
The federal government has begun to establish cattle colonies to end the crises asvanother panel headed by VP Yemi Osinbajo is working on the matter too.
