In the EPL, Thiago Silva is regarded as one of the most stable defensive players as his efforts in Chelsea’s defense can not be compared to those of other defenders in the league.

Before he moved to Chelsea, the club’s defense was weak and suffered much from goal concession. It was in the period which Frank Lampard was the club’s head coach.

But surprisingly, he has been able to influence the defense positively with his presence as Chelsea’s defense has become one of the stiffest in the EPL. Just three goals have been conceded by the team in this season’s league campaign.

However, Silva’s plight can not be discussed completely without mentioning the circumstances that led to him signing for Chelsea. It can be recalled that after his contract expired at Paris Saint-Germain, the club opted to let him leave instead of giving him some more extra years.

But the good thing is that he has been able to prove his former team wrong with his entire performance at Chelsea. Not only has he become a defender who is hailed, but he also guided his new team to a Champions League victory, a title he was not able to win while at PSG.

It can also be observed that Sergio Ramos was seen as a better choice for PSG’s defense, despite Silva’s abilities. But now, Silva has shown the French club that they were wrong about him as he has outperformed Ramos, who is yet to even make a mark in the team.

To show that Silva is an asset that PSG should have kept, the player was still given a new contract by Chelsea after the previous one expired. Although many football clubs make decisions based on circumstances, Silva has proven to PSG that allowing him to leave was a wrong move.

PSG may also have considered the Brazilian’s age, but Silva has proven them wrong as he is still performing at a huge level in a competitive league.
