Human rights activist recounts Tinubu’s response when young people were massacred in Southwest
Rinu Oduala, a 23-year old human rights activist has recounted what Bola Tinubu said when many young people were massacred in the Southwest; Yoruba land.
According to Rinu Oduala, Tinubu asked some seemingly improper questions when young people were brutalized, dehumanized and massacred in Yoruba land, the Southwestern part of Nigeria.
While recounting Tinubu’s responses after the ugly incident, Rinu Oduala said that the presidential aspirant who is running under the umbrella of the All Progressives Congress simply asked to know who they were, why they were there, and what they were doing there.
In her words, she wrote “Many young persons were massacred in South-West, Nigeria: Yoruba land.
The only response Tinubu gave was, who were they? Why were they there? What were they doing there?”
Although, she did not categorically state where and when the incident occurred, but Rinu Oduala sees Tinubu’s response to such an ugly incident that involved human lives as insensitive and improper. To Rinu Oduala, Tinubu cannot make such comments and expect the young people and Nigerians at large to vote for him.
Tinubu has been restless since President Muhammadu Buhari met with the Governors of the All Progressives Congress and requested to be allowed to choose his successor. Tinubu felt betrayed by Buhari’s request.
Many people have argued that Tinubu has every reason to frown at Buhari over his request. Some others see no reason why the presidential aspirant show be upset over the same request.
However, Rinu Oduala sees him to be unfit and unworthy of their votes after making such statements to an ugly incident she alleged happened in Yoruba land.
