IBB: SSS moves in on Afegbua
The State Security Service has invited Kassim Afegbua, the spokesperson of Ibrahim Babangida, to appear before it.
The invitation came through a phone call shortly after Afegbua, wanted by the police, turned himself in at the Force Headquarters in Abuja Wednesday.
He was released after spending about half hour in a closed-door discussion with the commissioner for police in charge of Inspector-General Monitoring Unit as well as the head of legal department at the Force Headquarters.
Afegbua legal team were said to be contemplating backing down on the N1 billion suit slammed on the IGP and two media houses over the matter, then the SSS intervention came up.
“We will honour the (SSS) invitation by tomorrow morning,” Afegbua lawyer told Premium Times.
“We will be there, if that is how they want to run this country, we’ll see how far they can go
with this.”
Afegbua’s ordeal began Sunday night when je signed a cintriversial statement on behalf of his boss who criticised President Muhammadu Buhari and asked him to step aside by 2019.
Another statement, signed by Babangida, however came up, discrediting the first as a personal opinion of the writer.
But Babangida has said he stands by the first letter.
