IGP acts fast to avert police strike, approves tax exemption, combat kits, allowances
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Alkali Usman, has been taken urgent steps to avert the speculated national strike being threatened by officers of the Force in the country. The IG, accordingly, approved tax exemption, combat kits and allowances for police personnel in all formations.
The Commissioner of Police in Delta State, CP Ari Muhammed, at an interactive session with senior officers of the Command at the State Headquarters, as directed by the Inspector-General of Police, noted that the Police is a regimented organisation, which has laid down rules and regulations guiding its operations.
CP Ari Muhammed disclosed that in line with the IGP’s mission and vision, the implementation of the new salary scheme and removal of tax from Police salaries will commence in earnest. He added that the IGP has also approved a 40% increment in rent allowances and 20% increase in risk allowances, with immediate effect.
The CP also emphasized that IGP Alkali Usman has ordered massive distribution of equipment and combat kits, expansion of Police medical services, incorporation of the Nigeria Police Force Insurance Company, to guarantee seamless insurance services to officers, reintroduction and strengthening of the Nigeria Police Force Scholarship Scheme, for the dependents of Police Officers.
Ari Mohammed encouraged all officers of the State Police Command to go about their normal duties, assuring them of the unrelenting commitment of the IGP to the welfare of every Police Officer.
