IPOB ORDER: Fate of Biafran children writing Nigerian NECO worries Kanu’s family
Nnamdi Kanu’s family have denied allegations they got money from the federal government to cancel the sit-at-home order every Monday which IPOB gave last Monday.
In a statement the family issued Friday, more noble considerations made the family issued the counter order.
“It must be understood that the action of the family was informed by the compelling need not to jeopardise the academic future of thousands of Biafran children sitting for the ongoing National Examination Council, NECO.” The statement signed by Emmanuel Kanu read.
“Contrary to misconceptions in some quarters, the action of the family to counter the sit-at-home was not as a result of compromise or monetary inducement by the Government.
“It was also not to usurp the powers of IPOB or for any ulterior motive contrary to speculations.
Emmanuel said the family has gone beyond looking back in the struggle.
“It’s unthinkable that the Kanu family, which has sacrificed almost everything including our parents, in the cause of this struggle would ever contemplate sabotaging the same struggle for which our first son is now being illegally detained.”
IPOB nad the family clashed when Kanunta, a younger brother of the detained IPOB leader, issued an order cancelling IPOB’s.
Emma Powerful, the group’s spokesman, said IPOB doesn’t belong to the Kanus, and it can’t take instruction from them.
Kanu has been in the DSS detention since his capture as a bail-jumping fugitive in Kenya in July.
His followers seeking an independent Biafra is fighting the federal government for his release.
