Katsina 2019: Bandits kill security operatives, kidnap Ad-hoc staff
Armed bandits on election day on Saturday killed two security operatives; one attached to the Katsina Command of the Nigeria Police and another of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC in Katsina State.
The Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isah, confirmed the incident but noted that investigations are ongoing to bring the culprits to book.
Isah narrated that the incident occurred when patrol team on election duty along Gobirawa Falale – Maidabino Feeder road, Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State was ambushed by armed political thugs led by one Mani Doro of Dunya Village, Danmusa IGA of Katsina State (now at large), as a result of which the driver of the patrol vehicle, Corporal Mannir Usman, attached to Danmusa Police Division, was shot dead by the hoodlums.
The PPRO further said that three Independent National Electoral Commission ad hoc staff on election duty were also kidnapped by the hoodlums.
Isah confirmed that armed bandits attacked Santar Amadi village polling unit in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, shooting sporadically in the air and later pursued and shot a Civil Defense officer, Umar Aliyu, on his chest he died on the spot.
He maintained that investigations are currently on-going to unravel those behind the act and bring them to book.
