Lagos 2023: Tinubu shuts out other guber aspirants, seals second term ticket for Sanwo-Olu, Gbajabimila for senate
The national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, may have shut out other aspirants for the Lagos State governorship race in the 2023 elections, as he sealed the party’s ticket for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu before the state congress.
Asiwaju Tinubu, widely celebrated as the political godfather of Lagos State, and some states in eth southwest, endorsed Sanwo-Olu for the second ticket of the party at a meeting of APC stakeholders in Lagos at Adeyemi Bero, Alausa, Ikeja. Tinubu’s endorsement of Sanwo-Olu has shut the door of the governorship contest in the state.
Tinubu is a presidential aspirant on the platform of the APC.
Other elections tickets have also been shared to various APC stakeholders in Lagos State. Party sources revealed to National Daily, that the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Felim Gbajabiamila, has been given the senatorial ticket for Lagos West, ending the tenure of Senator Solomon Adeola (Yayi), while former Deputy Governor Adefulere, will go for Lagos Central senatorial district, Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, had to step down his senatorial ambition for Gbajabimila but will return to the Lagos State House of Assembly to retain his office if APC wins Lagos in the 2023 general elections.
