Lawmaker pays NECO fees for 100 students.
Mr Salihu Iyimoga, a legislator in Nasarawa state, has registered 100 students in his constituency for the 2022 National Examination Council (NECO).
Iyimoga represents Doma North Constituency at the Nasarawa state House of Assembly.
The lawmaker ( ZLP), Chairman, House Committee on Youth and Sports, made this known to newsmen after he distributed the NECO registration forms to the beneficiaries in Doma, on Sunday.
He said that he decided to pay the NECO fees in order to give children of the less privileged access to quality education, in view of its importance to societal development.
The payment of the NECO fees was part of his contributions to the educational development of the student beneficiaries, he added.
” The importance of education to human and societal development could not be overemphasized, as no nation or society could achieve meaningful progress and development without sound education.
” I have decided to pay the NECO fees for 100 students of my constituency as part of my contributions to the development of the education sector in my constituency and the state at large,” he said.
Iyimoga urged the students to take their studies seriously, in their own interest and for the overall development of the state.
He assured of his continued commitment to providing purposeful leadership and good representation at the state legislature, soliciting the support of all and sundry to enable him succeed.
Besides, he urged the people of the constituency in particular, and the state at large, to continue to be law abiding, respect constituted authorities and live peacefully with one another for development to thrive.
The National Daily reports that the beneficiaries were drawn from across the six electoral wards of his constituency.
Some of the beneficiaries appreciated the lawmaker for the gesture and assured him of their support to succeed beyond 2023.
