MAILAFIA: Cousin reveals conversation about CBN ex-deputy gov’s health day before death
A relative of the late former deputy governor of the CBN who passed Sunday morning has revealed a snippet of the conversation he had with him a day to his hospitalization, and death.
Obadiah Mailafia and the cousin who preferred anonymity said his brother complained of malaria and catarrh when they had a phone call.
According to report by the Daily Trust, Mailafia told the cousin he had to switch off his main number because people were disturbing him on that line.
After they finished talking, the cousin wished him quick recovery and thanked him for an assistance he rendered him last week.
“Only for me to get a call today’s church service that he has passed on,” he told the newspaper.
The cousin also confirmed Mailafia died in Abuja—not in Jos where he had a house.
The former presidential candidate had a run-in with the President Muhammadu Buhari government when he claimed there was a plan o Islamize and Fulanise Nigeria through Boko Haram.
