Man bags 2 years in jail for abusing police officers
A crackpot arrested during a raid by the Jimeta Police Division got mad with the officers, cursing and abusing the Nigerian police instead of writing his statement on te suspicion of being caught with grass.
After prosecution and trial, he bagged a two-year term—not for smoking weed, though.
Ruling, Hon Nuhu Musa Garta of the Yoal Area Criminal Court, on Tuesday, sentenced the 25-year-old. The suspect admitted he raved at the police.
According to the First Information Report (FIR) tendered in court by Inspector Danjuma Hamidu, Bala, on Monday, said he would rather die than join the Nigeria Police Force because policemen are criminals.
The convict also insisted all police officers attached to the Jimeta Police Division were thieves.
The prosecuting officer said Bala was unable to give satisfactory account of himself.
Bala insisted all police officers attached to the Jimeta Police Division were thieves.
The judge however gave him an option of fine—N50, 000.
