Meta introduces paid subscription services for Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp
Meta Platforms has expanded its subscription-based services across its major social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp, as the tech giant continues efforts to diversify revenue beyond advertising.
The company has introduced various premium features and verification services aimed at creators, businesses, and regular users seeking enhanced account benefits, security tools, and exclusive functionalities.
Among the most notable offerings is the Meta Verified subscription service, which provides users with verified badges, increased account protection against impersonation, direct customer support access, and expanded visibility features on Facebook and Instagram.
WhatsApp has also seen the rollout of monetisation and subscription-related tools, particularly for businesses and channel operators. These features are designed to help creators and organisations generate revenue through exclusive updates, premium content, and business communication tools within the messaging platform.
Meta said the expansion of paid services is part of its broader strategy to strengthen creator economies and provide additional digital services across its ecosystem of applications used by billions of people worldwide.
The move reflects a growing trend among major technology companies introducing subscription models amid changing advertising markets, increased competition, and rising operational costs in the digital sector.
Industry analysts say the subscriptions could help Meta reduce reliance on advertising revenue while creating new opportunities for influencers, businesses, and digital entrepreneurs using its platforms.
While many core features of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp remain free, the company indicated that premium tools and enhanced user experiences will continue to expand across the platforms in coming months.
