Morata denies Pochettino’s claims
By Boluwatife Ezekiel Olaleye
Morata has denied Mauricio Pochettino’s assertion that the reason he didn’t come to Tottenham a year before was because Spurs already had Harry Kane.
Manchester United were steaming ahead in the race to sign the Spaniard, but then he arrived at Chelsea.
Though he could’ve been plying his trade in north, rather than west, London.
It was revealed by the Argentine coach that in the summer of 2016, he attempted to sign the forward, only for the former Juventus man to turn the move down.
“Why do you want me if you already have Harry Kane?” he is said to have responded.
In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Chelsea’s forward has since denied the claims made by the former Espanyol coach.
“No, it’s not true,” he admitted.
“I did talk to him; he said he wanted us to play together up front.
“At that moment there was no chance of signing for Tottenham.”
When pressed further on the subject of the England forward, Morata made clear that he would have had no complaints about partnering him in attack.
“Of course I’d like to play with him,” he intimated.
“He’s a great player.
“One of the best strikers in the world.”
