In a bid to deepen industrial collaboration and trade relations between Nigeria and China, the Director-General of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP), Joseph Tegbe, has paid strategic working visits to two major Chinese enterprises operating in Nigeria—Golden Diamond Limited and Choice International Group (CIG).

The visits, part of NCSP’s broader agenda to promote bilateral industrial growth, highlighted ongoing and future investments by Chinese firms poised to transform key sectors of the Nigerian economy.

At Golden Diamond Limited, a manufacturing company active in Nigeria since 2002, Tegbe toured the company’s production facilities and was presented with its ambitious multisector expansion blueprint.

The company has already invested over $500 million in Nigeria, with an additional $100 million earmarked for its expansion drive. Tegbe praised the company’s consistent contributions to Nigeria’s economy and reaffirmed NCSP’s readiness to support its investment ambitions.

Tegbe also visited Choice International Group, the manufacturers of the GAC automobile brand, where he was briefed on a groundbreaking $1.2 billion automotive project being undertaken in collaboration with the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC).

The initiative involves the establishment of a state-of-the-art vehicle manufacturing plant in Nigeria, with the goal of transitioning from Semi Knocked Down (SKD) to Completely Knocked Down (CKD) assembly and ultimately full-scale local automobile production.

With a projected return of $20 billion over five years, the initiative is expected to contribute up to 10% of Nigeria’s anticipated trillion-dollar economy. Tegbe hailed the project as a landmark in Nigeria-China industrial ties, noting its potential to drive technology transfer, create thousands of skilled jobs, and catalyze Nigeria’s automotive sector.

“These two initiatives represent significant pillars in Nigeria’s envisioned era of industrial expansion and economic transformation,” Tegbe stated. “They align seamlessly with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and underscore the immense value of Nigeria’s strategic alliance with China.”

He further emphasized that the NCSP remains committed to fostering mutually beneficial partnerships that enhance Nigeria’s industrial capacity, promote sustainable development, and unlock shared prosperity for both nations.

The visits reinforce the growing momentum in Nigeria-China relations, particularly in sectors critical to Nigeria’s economic diversification and industrial revitalization goals.
