Niger military goes tough, recalls ambassadors from Nigeria, U.S., France
The military regime in Niger Republic which ousted President Mohamed Bazoum has continued to go tough against external forces interfering with the internal affairs of the country.
General Abdourahamane Tchiani, Head of the Transition Government in Niger, in a broadcast on Niger’s national television on Thursday, declared the cut off of diplomatic relations with the U.S., Nigeria, France, and Togo.
General Abdourahamane Tiani, accordingly, “put an end” to the functions of Niger’s ambassadors to Nigeria, Sidi Zakari; France, Aishatou Boulamakane; Togo, Limon Tingiri; and America, Mohamadou Tiari.
The development has heightened tension in the West African sub-region as Western countries evacuate their citizens from Niger in the anticipation of outbreak of war.
