In a significant move to bolster aviation relations, Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, met with Angolan Ambassador to Nigeria, José Bamoquina Zau, and his deputy, Nelson Kafikiri, at his Abuja office yesterday.
The meeting marks a pivotal step in enhancing bilateral aviation cooperation.
Tunde Moshood, Special Assistant on Media and Communications to the Aviation Minister, issued a statement on Thursday detailing the discussions.
During the meeting, Ambassador Zau updated Keyamo on Angola’s advancements in its aviation sector, including a major overhaul of airport infrastructure.
He highlighted that Angola’s new airport, anticipated to become a key regional hub, will be officially inaugurated in one month.
Ambassador Zau conveyed a message from Angola’s Minister of Transport, Ricardo de Abreu, extending warm greetings and expressing Angola’s strong interest in deepening collaboration with Nigeria.
He also issued an official invitation for Minister Keyamo to attend the inauguration of the new airport next month.
The ambassador emphasized that enhanced cooperation between the two nations could offer significant benefits, particularly in aviation business and infrastructure development.

In response, Minister Keyamo praised Angola’s achievements in upgrading its aviation infrastructure and affirmed his commitment to attend the airport’s grand opening.
He also highlighted Nigeria’s readiness to work closely with Angola to improve air connectivity and explore new business opportunities.
To facilitate seamless coordination ahead of the inauguration, Keyamo has established a technical committee to collaborate with the Angolan Embassy’s team.
This committee will oversee logistics and help solidify plans for the Minister’s visit and potential areas of joint venture.
The meeting underscores the ongoing dedication of both countries to expanding their aviation sectors and fostering a mutually beneficial relationship.
