Nnamdi Kanu: Enugu residents comply with IPOB’s sit-at-home order
Residents of Enugu, Enugu State, on Monday complied with the sit-at-home order issued by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) some weeks ago. The sit-at-home order of the IPOB in southeast Nigeria is fast gaining acceptance and sympathy of the people in the southeast.
Though a faction of the IPOB had canceled the weekly exercise, limiting the sit-at-home order in protesting the arrest and prosecution of the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, had limited the order to the days Nnamdi Kanu will be arraigned in court on his prosecution.
It was gathered that in many parts of Enugu metropolis, residents no longer have the willingness to leave homes on Monday morning for businesses or work. They remained indoors on Monday in compliance with the sit-at-home order.
It was gathered that the ever-busy Golf Estate, Newmarket axis of the Enugu – Onitsha Expressway, was empty this Monday, the adjourning market shops were also shut to businesses.
Also affected were all major markets, including local street traders, shops and banks, which were shut down.
Security operatives were said to be deployed to strategic locations and flashpoints in the heart of Enugu city.
