Obasanjo hits Gbajabiamila, other insiders giving statements on Tinubu’s visit
As different version of the discussion between former President Olusegun Obasanjo and APC presidential candidate Bola Tinubu are flying about from so-called insiders, the truth is out, and it’s different.
Obasanjo, who has denied saying what some Tinubu’s supporters have credited to him, said they are fake, and not helpful for the visitor.
In a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi on Saturday, Obasanjo maintained that “the statements coming from those claiming to be supporters of Bola Tinubu are unhelpful.”
Addressing his Suruere constituency a day after the meeting, Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila claimed he was among those who had the closed-door meeting with Obasnajo, and what the former president said was assuring the APC candidate would win the 2023 presidential election.
But Obasanjo said the discussion he had with Tinubu was “more brotherly than political.”
At the request of Tinubu, Obasanjo said “he “agreed to no statement from either side.”
“Those claiming to be insiders at the meeting issuing statement on the discussion and those crediting to me statement I had not made are enemies of the visitor and are not doing the visit any good.”
