Okpebholo assigns portfolios to six new commissioners in Edo
In a significant step to strengthen his administration, Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has officially assigned portfolios to six newly appointed commissioners.
The assignments were announced in a statement released on Tuesday by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq.
The new commissioners and their respective portfolios are as follows: Paul Nosayaba Ohonbamu: Ministry of Information and Communications; Washington Osa Osifo: Ministry of Water Resources and Energy; Emmanuel Paddy Iyamu: Ministry of Education; Lucky Esigbe: Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; Andrew Ijegbai: Ministry of Mining and Marie Olabisi Idaomi: Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development
At the swearing-in ceremony held on Monday, Governor Okpebholo urged the new commissioners to prioritize teamwork and focus on improving the lives of the people of Edo State.
He emphasized the urgency of driving development and progress in the state.
“This appointment is not just an honor but a call to serve with dedication, integrity, and excellence. You have been chosen because of your skills and the trust we have in your ability to contribute meaningfully to the development of our state,” the governor stated.

Governor Okpebholo further highlighted the importance of collaboration, urging the appointees to work with a shared sense of purpose. “Together, we can make Edo State a model of growth and prosperity,” he added.
In addition to the commissioners, other key appointees also took their oaths of office on Monday. These include the Chairman of the State Universal Education Board (SUBEB), members of the State Secondary Education Board (SSEB), and representatives of the Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission (EDSOGPADEC) and the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC).
Governor Okpebholo expressed confidence in the capacity of the newly appointed officials to deliver good governance, efficient service delivery, and fulfill the administration’s promises to the people of Edo State.
The appointments are seen as a testament to his administration’s commitment to fostering sustainable development and improving the well-being of the state’s residents.
