Osun 2022: PDP raises alarm over denial of venue for mega campaign by Gov. Oyetola
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has raised alarm over alleged denial of venue by the All Progressives Congress (APC) government in Osun State, South-West Nigeria for the party’s mega campaign in the build up to the governorship election next week.
The State Caretaker Chairman, Akindele Adekunle, at a media conference in Osogbo, decried refusal of the state governor, Gboyega Oyetola, to approve a venue for the PDP, protesting that the denial of party’s right to use the venue is the height of intolerance by the Gboyega Oyetola administration in Osun State.
The PDP State Caretaker Chairman protested: “it is absurd that the Governor as the hired custodian of state infrastructure would be so empowered to administer government property as personal estate,” saying, “this has put democracy at danger in the state.”
The PDP also protested the unprovoked attack on its members on their way to the palace of the traditional ruler of Osogbo land, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun. Adekunle stated that the PDP members were in solidarity with the Governorship Candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke, as he paid homage to the monarch in continuation of the party’s statewide campaigns.
