Osun govt. investigates cooks, planning officers over ‘poisoned’ free meal, as 18 pupils land in hospital
The Osun State Government has commenced investigations into the incident of perceived ‘poisoning’ of free meal served on the pupils of St James Primary School B, Owoope, Osogbo, which caused 18 pupils to be taken to hospital.
The Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Alimi, disclosed that the state government has invited the cooks in the school, including the planning officer for the O-Meal programme, for interrogation on Tuesday.
The state government has, meanwhile, suspended free meal in the school pending the conclusion of investigations.
Alimi had asserted Governor Ademola Adeleke has ordered the enforcement of “food standard, quality control, and the auditing of the O-Meal structure to prevent recurrence.
The Commissioner, however, noted that the state government paid the medical bills of the sick pupils, adding that they were treated and discharged.
He disclosed that a government delegation will visit the families of the pupils.
