Osun teachers recruitment will be based on needs assessment — Commissioner
Osun State Commissioner for Education, Dipo Eluwole has stated that the forthcoming recruitment of teachers into public schools across the state will be based on teaching subjects/teachers needs assessment.
Eluwole said the recruitment exercise is not going to be done just for the sake of recruitment of teachers, which according to him might end up not achieving the expected results at the end of the day.
The Commissioner stated this while responding to questions on a radio programme monitored in Osogbo.
While explaining modalities for the recruitment, the Commissioner said a ‘Need Assessment’ on the need of teachers for specific subjects and for specific schools, both secondary and primary, has already been carried out and will serve as a guide for effective recruitment.
The Commissioner explained that through the ‘Need Assessment’ method, the state can boast that every single recruited teacher will be maximally useful in the classroom after the recruitment.

“The state government is determined to make Osun move up on the WAEC ranking which is why he graciously approved an education summit.
“The Governor is determined to follow up on all the recommendations of the education summit, hence the recent release of a white paper on it.”
Speaking on the issue of out-of-school children in the state, Eluwole said the present administration had done so much to reduce the trend.
He noted that schools will be made closer to pupils and ensuring that school feeding continues.
