PDP: Supreme Court verdict, a victory for all Nigerians, says Akpabio
More reactions have continued to trail the landmark judgement earlier on Wednesday, July 12, where the Supreme Court declared Ahmed Markarfi as the authentic chairman of the crisis ridden Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).
Reacting to the verdict, Senate minority leader, Godswill Akpabio, representing Akwa Ibom North-west described the judgement as a victory for all Nigerians.
Akpabio, a former Governor of Akwa Ibom State said he was quite satisfied with the judgement, describing it as a great thing for democracy.” For me, the judgement shows the supremacy of the party, and therefore there is no victor no vanquish but rather the supremacy of the party.”
He said the dispute in the PDP has been settled for good, calling on all “members who went on exile to return to build the party in ensuring that the PDP “Changes the Change”, come 2019.

“I urged others affected by the tussle to come back and let us build the party together”, Senator Akapbio stated.
Akpabio also commended the Judiciary for standing firm and ensuring justice in the matter, saying with the judgement, the Judiciary has shown its steadfastness in fair adjudication.
Ike Ekwerenmadu, Deputy Senate President, who was also present at the briefing said the PDP must come together and pursue a common goal of strengthening the party.
Also, former Senate President David mark who also described the ruling as a victory for democracy noted that with the victory, the “change the change”? Mantra is finally on course.
The PDP lawmakers who obviously favoured Makarfi’s as against Ali Modu Sheriff called on all who have defected to return to the. Party adding that the PDP is ready to welcome them with open arms.
