PDP: Wike faction demands resignation, benefits from Atiku presidency before reconciliation
Following the weekend meeting of the PDP faction loyal to Rivers Gov. Nyesom Wike, the governors and party stalwarts who met have listed their demands for reconciliation.
The party’s BoT has scheduled a conciliatory meeting for Wednesday.
“After the BoT meeting, we will meet with Atiku, Okowa and Wike to finally resolve the matter to make PDP stronger and very united and enable Atiku and Okowa win the election hands down,” said Jibrin Whalid, the BoT chairman said.
But Wike’s group—five governors, among others—have demanded party’s national chairman Iyorcha Ayu should resign
According to reports, sources familiar with the meeting said the Wike’s men also demand a written agreement from the part’s flagbearer Abubakar Atiku—on what they stand to benefit should he win the 2023 presidential election.
On the first demand, Atiku has insisted Ayu will step down by 2023—not now.
The party is in crisis since Wike, the biggest loser in party’s primary presidential election, distanced himself from the party, and even widened it after he lost the V.P slot to Delta Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa.
Among those flanking Wike are Govs Seyi Makinde, Samuel Ortom, Okezie Ikpeazu, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, and others like former Gov Donald Duke, former Minister Jerry Gana,
