PDP Youth Movement berates PDP leadership over demand for resignation, probe of CBN Gov, Emefiele
There appears to be deepening mix-up in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The PDP Youth Movement joined other groups which include the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) and the Oduduwa Youth Assembly to berate the PDP national leadership over demand for the resignation and investigation of the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, on allegations of corruption. They chided the PDP leadership over attempts to divert attention from the lingering crisis in the party relating to leadership incompetence.
In different statements by their respective Publicity Secretaries, they argued that the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, had done nothing wrong to warrant the demand for his resignation.
They counseled the PDP leadership to concentrate on house cleaning of the party, noting that the economy performed woefully in the 16 years of PDP leadership.
They noted that the fiscal and monetary policies of the CBN Governor have resulted in consistent reduction in inflation rate in Nigeria in the past five months.
The PDP had demanded the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate the CBN Governor over allegations of pillaging of Nigeria’s vaults under his watch.
PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbodiyan, had in Abuja, said that Emefiele’s tenure as CBN Governor under the All Progressives Congress (APC) government has been riddled with monetary policy summersaults.
Ologbodiyan had decried the free fall of the Naira since Emefiele took over as CBN Governor in 2014.
