Obi highlighted the crucial role of the NLC president as a leader of the nation’s workforce and a key negotiator with the Federal Government on labor issues and matters of national interest. He acknowledged the seriousness of the allegations mentioned in the invitation letter but stressed the need for clarity on whether these infractions were being attributed to Ajaero’s personal actions or his duties as NLC leader.
The former Governor of Anambra State cautioned against using authoritarian methods to suppress labor as a potential opposition force, underscoring the need to respect the rule of law and the principles of evidence. He urged labor to rely on its strengths and authority to uphold democratic order and stability.
