Pilot daughter of former senator dies in Cameroon air crash
Sen. Solomon Eguwa’s pilot daughter Adzuayi flying oil workers in the plane that crashed in Central Cameroon on Wednesday was among the dead crew.
The aircraft flying from Yaounde Nsimalen Airport to Belabo in the east of the country lost contact with the Air Traffic Control before the accident which killed all on board.
The aircraft belonged to Caverton Aviation Cameroon, a subsidiary of Caverton Offshore Support Group.
The workers were of COTCO Cameroon Oil Transport Company, who were on a chartered flight from Yaounde to Domta (Cameroon) had returned to Yaounde due to the weather and remained on the ground for 75 minutes.
The aircraft then departed again for Domta at 12:46L with an endurance of about 4.5 hours.
At about 14:00 local time, the aircraft lost contact with the control tower and it did not land at any airport beyond the endurance time.
The de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter, currently marketed as the Viking Air DHC-6 Twin Otter, is a Canadian 19-passenger STOL utility aircraft developed by de Havilland Canada.
The Nigerian sister-carrier also operates a single DHC-6-400 complementing various helicopters providing support for the country’s oil and gas industry.
