Police arrest soldier for smuggling ammunition to sell to bandits
The Nigeria Police Force has arrested Private Bara’u Tajuddeen, a soldier with service number 22NA/82/3441, on suspicion of stealing military ammunition and anti-aircraft rounds.
Tajuddeen, a member of the 19 Special Force Brigade, is currently based in Maiduguri, a city known for its military presence due to ongoing security challenges. He was recently detained at the Maiduguri motor park, a busy place where many travelers come and go. At the time of his arrest, he was preparing to travel to Kano, and it is alleged that he planned to sell stolen weapons to bandits who operate in the area.
A reliable source revealed that Tajuddeen had been closely monitored by authorities for some time. The surveillance efforts paid off when he was caught in the act while transporting a significant amount of stolen ammunition. This ammunition was meant for an illegal sale, which raised serious concerns about the potential for increased violence in the region if such weapons fell into the wrong hands.
