Police assure Asaba residents of safety, urge disregard of IPOB threat, sit-at-home order
The Police Command in Delta State has urged residents of Asaba, Delta State capital, to ignore the sit-at-home order extended beyond the southeast to neighbouring states by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
The Commissioner of Police in Delta State, CP Ari Muhammed Ali, in a press statement, cautioned that there is no “sit at home order either by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) or any other faceless individual or individuals” in the state. The CP warned trouble shooters to keep off Delta State or face the fireworks of the state police command.
Some unknown persons have been disseminating information, threatening residents of Asaba to join the southeast in complying with the sit-at-home order imposed on southeast residents by IPOB.
The Commissioner of Police assured residents of Asaba of their safety, encouraging them to go out without fear for their lawful businesses. The CP insisted that the Command will deal decisively with anyone or group of persons who try to cause pandemonium or disorder in any part of the state.
The police have been placed on red alert; the Deputy Commissioner of Police Operations, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders, have been ordered to deploy strategies that will make the State uncomfortable and uninhabitable for hoodlums, and maintain Police visibility across the length and breadth of the state.
The CP appealed to the public, particularly, residents of Asaba and the entire Delta North, to be vigilant, monitor, and report any strange or suspicious movements or persons in their vicinity to the police or other law enforcement agencies.
